Our College Prep coursework is carefully curated to equip students with the academic skills and knowledge necessary for success in higher education. These courses go beyond the standard curriculum, offering advanced content and challenging assignments to students. By engaging in College Prep Coursework, students develop a strong academic foundation that prepares them for the rigors of college-level studies.
In our commitment to providing a comprehensive education, SST follows the 4X4 Plan, requiring students to complete four full-year courses in each of the core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The coursework in the college readiness program ensures that students graduate with a well-rounded education, ready to tackle the challenges of higher education. The 4X4 Plan promotes depth of knowledge, critical thinking, and versatility in academic pursuits.
College Prep education is achieved through the purpose of the CCMR Program which leads all students to achieve college, career, and military readiness standards so that they graduate college-ready. Once they become graduates our students are inspired to actively pursue post secondary opportunities.
With the SST College, Career, and Military Readiness program, you will have dedicated resources and experienced individuals to help you best prepare your child for college. From the college application process to financial aid, we are dedicated to preparing students and their families for opportunities available to them after graduation.
Through our career guidance and college readiness program (CCMR), all students are encouraged to explore their passions, interests, and talents. As a result, all students will be able to identify personal strengths that can be applied to achieve their academic, career, personal, and social goals.
Advanced Placement (AP) is a program offered by the College Board that provides college-level curricula and examinations for high school students. U.S. colleges and universities may grant placement and course credit to students who achieve high scores on the AP exams. AP courses are open to any student who is academically prepared and motivated to take college- level classes.
SST supports students who are eager to embrace the challenges of advanced classes. SST students can take as many AP courses as they wish during their high school years. Students enrolled in AP coursework are expected to engage in more independent analytical reading, academic discourse, and writing assignments, both inside and outside the classroom. SST schools proudly offer Pre-AP courses, designed to elevate the academic experience for students seeking a more rigorous and challenging curriculum. At the end of 8th grade, students will pick a specialized pathway to follow for their college prep journey. Below are the pathways for PLTW.
Engineering pathway courses teach students to develop the problem-solving mindset of an engineer. Throughout the four-year course work, students will engage in real-life challenges such as designing a home or programming a robotic arm. SST Engineering Course Sequence: PLTW Introduction to Engineering Design; PLTW Aerospace Engineering; PLTW Principles of Engineering; PLTW Engineering Design and Development.
Biomedical Science pathway courses allow students to see themselves in the role of biomedical professionals as they solve real-world challenges. Students will have hands-on learning experiences such as preventing, diagnosing, and treating disease and investigating the death of a fictional person. SST Biomedical Science Course Sequence: PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science; PLTW Human Body Systems; PLTW Medical Interventions; PLTW Biomedical Innovations.
Our Computer Science pathway courses allow students to explore the world of technology. Students will have hands-on learning experience by diving into coding, app development, and cybersecurity. Programming and Software Development pathway courses empower students with in-demand knowledge and skills they will use in high school and for the rest of their lives in any career. SST Programming and Software Development Course Sequence: PLTW Computer Science Essentials; PLTW Computer Science Principles; AP Computer Science A; Game Programming and Design.
SST is dedicated to not only preparing students for high school graduation but also guiding them toward successful college degree attainment. Through our 6-year Academic Plan, students forge individualized academic pathways, integrating the first two years of their desired college degree into their high school graduation plan. This innovative approach allows students to graduate with up to 42 college credit hours, giving them a head start in their college journey and positioning them ahead of their peers.
For a student to graduate from SST High Schools, the student must fulfill:
SST’s High School Program is designed to ensure acceptance, enrollment, and success in 4-year universities. It requires the following course-by-credit plan for all students, regardless of the plan they choose to graduate. Exceptions may apply to students in Special Education Programs.
